Upload an MP4 and choose a clip
Choose a browser-supported MP4 up to 30 seconds. Drag the range handles or enter start and end times, then choose the frame sampling rate. Extract up to 120 frames.
- 02
Edit and preview the animation
Inspect individual frames, remove unwanted or similar frames, reorder the sequence and find a loop. The same frame editor includes brush adjustments, color key and optional credit-based AI background removal.
- 03
Set the size and download your GIF
GIF is selected by default at export. Keep the original frame size or choose a smaller one, set smooth or pixel scaling and review the animation. Download the GIF directly, or switch to sprite-sheet or PNG-sequence ZIP export.
Keep a small movement, share it as a GIF
For example, select a two-second action from an MP4, extract 16 frames, remove any you do not need and export at 256 pixels wide. Preview the loop first. Fewer frames and smaller dimensions can reduce file size, with some loss of motion or detail.
Video to GIF questions
Is video to GIF conversion free?
Yes. Trimming, frame extraction, editing, preview and basic GIF export run in your browser without signup. Optional AI background removal requires an account and credits.
Which video files can I upload?
Upload an MP4 up to 30 seconds and 100 MiB that your browser can decode. H.264 MP4 is a useful choice when another codec will not play. Other video containers are not accepted by this tool.
Will my GIF have a transparent background?
The original video background stays by default. Use color key or optional AI cutout to remove it, then inspect your frames. Preview background colors are for checking only. GIF supports fully transparent or opaque pixels, not soft semitransparent edges.
How can I make the GIF smaller?
Use a shorter clip, extract fewer frames or reduce the export dimensions. Check the motion after each change. GIF uses up to 256 colors and does not contain audio, so it cannot preserve every video color or the original soundtrack.
Can I also export a sprite sheet or PNG frames?
Yes. This page uses the same editor as Video to sprites. GIF is the initial export choice; you can switch to a PNG sprite sheet or PNG sequence with JSON timing data in a ZIP.
